Should you light large items with it? Nope. How about incense, candles, and cigarettes? Sure.Should you avoid it because of its Taser-like shock? No, esp. if you understand how the thing is designed. I am surprised by the negative reviews that make it seem like, without warning, your finger is going to end up on the contact points. I think (and some review strongly suggest it) that people wanted to see what it 'felt' like to touch the contact points. But is that the fault of the manufacturer or the lighter? That said, is the touch-pad a bit sensitive. Sure is! Sometimes you touch it. Sometimes you just move near it.This lighter is solidly built. It has a nice feel and heft to it when you hold it. It takes some time getting used to the 'flip-and-push' nature of the design. But that is the design. And that is explained in the instructions. The charge-indicators are clear. The overall look is quite nice (and I bought this because I saw another of their lighters--a butane one--and thought that it was nicely built). For daily use, the charge lasts quite a long time. Moreover, the charging is quite quick with the included cable. One thing I have noticed is that the lighter occasionally fails to fire (the contact points glow, but they do not 'cross' . . . which will make sense if you have used an arc lighter before). There is a simple explanation and solution to this. The explanation? The charging 'points' have some sort of block (likely whatever you have been touching to the surface of the points). So, normally, using the included brush will help to resolve this. But, sometimes, the block is a bit more compacted. Solution? Push the 'light' button (the points will glow, but not cross). While doing so, brush the points with the brush. Do that once or twice. Problem solved! One final thing: I can't understand why anyone would knock this lighter for failing to stand up?!?! Is that a thing that people look for in a lighter of this sort? Of any sort? I guess people (other people; not me) have axes to grind when it comes to things. If this thing explodes in a month or two, or blows one of my nails off in a horrible lighter accident, or simply stops working, I will be sure to update my review. Until then, I recommend it. It works. It requires no fuel. And it does what they say it will do.Only thing we found wrong is that my youngest son can hear a high pitch sound when being used. Other than that it's very reliable lighter that is easy to use.Cons:1. The switch is really touchy, and will often go off when in the near proximity of your hand without even touching it (it won't go off randomly though, so that's good. Just whenever your finger is too close). I can see why a few other reviewers have already burned themselves on it. A mechanical switch rather than a touch sensor would be inherently better for a product of this nature, especially if one wants to use this while wearing gloves in the cold. If not for this one issue, I'd give this five stars.2. The six second ignition time feels a bit too short. It'd be better if it were closer to ten seconds.Pros:1. I love it! I've been lighting candles and whatnot a bunch just for the fun of it because I like using it so much.2. Effective product. Does exactly as advertised. I held it up to the vent from my air conditioner while lit and it easily kept its "flame."2. Tight engineering. Though it's an inexpensive product it feels unmistakably premium. All parts of the product mesh well together and move smoothly. The cap has a very satisfying snap to it. It also has a nice weight to it.3. On the premium note, the packaging is high quality and will absolutely protect the product in the mail.3. It's easy to tell at a glance how much power is left in it.Does it look cool? Heck yeahDoes it work well? MostlyIs it wind proof? SortaDurable? YesIf you have over half charge it works flawless. Less than half it gets a little iffy. The touch panel kinda works when it wants to. If it does light it sputters a little and doesn’t make that good of an arc. I’ve dropped it off a 6 foot ladder onto concrete and didn’t phase it at all. It charges really quick. Can literally have 0 power and 30 seconds is enough charge to get a light. Full charge in about 20 min. So long as you keep it charged at half or better it works great. Small breeze it is fine, much more than that it is a little hit or miss. Overall would recommend despite few shortcomings of half power performanceI WANTED to be amazed with this lighter. I WAS amused for about an hour. Yes, it is neat to have a lighter that needs neither fuel nor flints...but it kinda fails in practicality. You have to get your smoke just right between the arcs to get a light, sometimes taking 2-3 tries. You basically touch the arc tips (either intentionally or non-intentionally) with your smoke to get it close enough...and there's the rub. The arc tips are very sensitive, and touching them with your smoke will rather quickly block them with debris....making the arc inconsistent, or non working. The lighter comes with a brush for cleaning the arc tips, but you have to use it A LOT.I can't see myself having to carry around a brush to clean it regularly, and having to recharge it every day or two....just a lot of work for something as simple as a lighter.I tossed mine in the drawer and went back to a Bic.Bought this for my wife who has RA. Due to the arthritis in her hands she can't get most lighters to work, this one solved that problem with its very easy to use touch system. This is a very nice looking lighter, the gold trim stands out nicely against the shiny blue metal. She's had several compliments regarding its look. Her only issue is it takes her two or three cycles to get a cigarette fully lit, which means the battery needs charging daily. Other than the battery life, she's very pleased with the lighter. Good value for the money. The style is exquisite and the material quality is decent, but there are some nasty design flaws; The top cap is so large it's difficult to light some candles. The button is not a press button, rather a capacitive tough button, meaning it's VERY easy to inadvertently activate it and shock yourself if not paying attention. The automatic 6-second shut-off with no override is SUCH a P.I.T.A, its not long enough and no way to make it long enough, you have to take your ringer off the button and place it on again.I have a much more basic £7 one that just has a simple blue case and a push button that you hold down to activate. I much prefer that one (wherever it is).Overall its functional but that's about it. I can't fault it but I couldn't reccommend it and I certainly wouldn't buy it again knowing what I know now. Shame.I use this for a number off things and as a smoker who most off the time out at sea in high winds this little gadget is great, just don't catch your self on the tabs as it hurts a tadThis "new age" ele. lighter is not good for cigar smokers, only for cigarette smokers. This is so cool. Great well made item. One love ????♂️??
